In loving memory of my Grandfather Bill Sheridan

Today is the anniversary of my grandfather’s death. I remember the day he died. I was in my garden planting vegetables. It was a beautiful sunny day that turned sad. My grandfather owned a Texaco gas station in Oaklyn, New Jersey. I love this photograph of him at the station. I remember him rolling his own cigarettes down in the basement and while he was down there he’d play a game of darts. Grandmom would not let him smoke in the house only in the basement. He made these funny bird noises that would make us break out laughing. It’s a happy memory that always puts a smile on my face.
